Maybe the End of the Dog Days of Summer, But There's Still Good Fishing

Water temps are still warm; we need this cold front to help cool things down a little for a hand in releasing fish easier. With that said, it is time to start looking at putting redtail chubs in the baitwell for Walleyes; crawlers are still a staple and leeches are hard to get.

Northern Pike:  Catching these fish in and around the weeds mostly while I am fishing for other species.

Bass: Rigging a worm wacky style and tossing it under and around docks will get you a good workout fighting Largemouth Bass during the day. Smallmouth Bass are still hanging around the rock humps, so a jig and half of a crawler or crayfish imitators will get them to bite.

Walleye: Been finding Walleyes in a couple of areas. On the mud flats using a jig and crawler combo have been producing well and jig and minnow combo on the quick breaks of the rocks are working good also.

Panfish:  Perch are using the deep weed edge and hard soft transitions a lot lately; keep on using jigs tipped with red worms or plastic. Still catching Crappies on a slip bobber tipped with a piece of plastic like Kalins crappie scrubs, in this warm weather it is hard to keep minnows lively. Bluegills are in the shallow weeds and can be caught slip bobbering tipped with plastic, waxworms, or a piece of crawler.

Muskie:  Tossing bucktails and glide baits over the weed tops are getting fish and casting big rubber baits over deep water are hooking up with some suspended fish
